Attending your Vaccination Appointment – Keeping Safe

Attending your Vaccination Appointment – Keeping Safe

We know this is an uncertain time, but it is essential that you, your baby or child still have routine vaccinations and it is important to us for you to feel safe in our practice. Vaccinations protect against serious and potentially deadly illnesses and stop outbreaks in the community, it is very important for you and your child to attend your next appointment for vaccinations to prevent these outbreaks.

When attending your appointment, a range of measures have been put in place to minimise any risk of COVID-19:

  • Social distancing measures will be observed
  • We may have asked you to attend your appointment at a clinic that is not at your usual venue
  • The appointment may take longer than usual.

Please also use the hand sanitiser provided to you in the reception area when attending your appointment, and continue to follow Government guidelines to frequently washing your hands.

To reduce the number of patients in our surgery at any one time due to the current circumstances, if possible, please only bring one child to the surgery when attending your appointment.

It is now mandatory to wear a facial covering when visiting GP practices, hospitals and when using public transport etc. for those who can wear them.  For more details about facial coverings, who must wear them, where you need to wear them and to find out if you are exempt from wearing one please go to on our website or visit

Please follow guidelines when travelling to and from your appointment by car, public transport or bike by keeping the appropriate distance away from others and wearing a facial covering if you are not exempt. For more details, go to and search ‘staying safe outside your home’.

If you have any concerns about attending your appointment, please contact a member of our team who can offer you further guidance, reassurance and advice. If you choose not to attend your vaccination appointment please let us know, as there is potentially limited appointment slots available and we may be able to offer the appointment to someone else.

Please note: You must NOT attend an appointment if you or any member of your household are suffering from any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 or are self-isolating. If this applies to you, please contact your GP practice so that you can reschedule your appointment for a different time. As appropriate, if you are identified as clinically extremely vulnerable and have been shielding, please contact your GP practice for the latest advice on what to do.
